‘The untangled tales’ visualizes the stories of the
Anansi storytellers and the Angisa-folders,
and the ways in which these traditions
allow us to glimpse at the years of slavery.
Drawing on memories and imagination, The Untangled Tales addresses underexposed African-Surinamese stories of oppression as well as resilience. In doing so, Piergoelam's work explores the intangible cultural heritage and the ways in which legends and stories give us a glimpse into obscured histories. In The Untangled Tales #2, Piergoelam further elaborates on the stories of enslaved people in Suriname, resulting in a new publication which will be presented during the vernissage of the exhibition.
MINO is launching an educational program for children. The workshops will focus on storytelling in different art forms, using inspiration from Michelle Piergoelam's work. Young and enthusiastic artists will be leading the workshops, eager to share their love of art with your kids.
At our kids' workshops, parents can also find a place to unwind. While your child is having a great time in our workshop, you can enjoy a drink and relax on our rooftop garden.

AGNESKENA - TRADITIONAL LOVE
Agneskena 1994 is a self-taught visual artist based in Brussels. Primarily working with video and photography, her African heritage significantly influences her work and storytelling.
With Traditional Love Agneskena explores how daily rituals and events become part of our (sub)consciousness and impact our identity. She captures these moments - subtle but distinct - that are passed on from one generation to another as a love language. Traditional Love is an artistic exploration to unify, represent, and display the power of assembly, inspired by the 5th edition topic of Black History Month Belgium.
Special thanks to our sponsors for their generous support : One Team Consulting, Ted Bwatu, Fely Bwatu, Owusua Ogunbayo, Milo-Profi, Café au Lait.
